Features · Widgets
Your food memories on your Home Screen.
Most widgets show the weather. These show the pho you had in Hanoi a year ago today, and put the camera one tap away for tonight.
Free on iPhone and Android. No account, and it works with no signal.
In short
PlateDiary has five widgets for iPhone and Android. Quick Snap, free, opens the camera in one tap; Memory Lane, Craving Shuffle, Save Wall and Table Window come with Premium and put your own past meals on your Home Screen.

The lineup
Five widgets, one free.
| Sizes | Plan | What it does | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quick Snap | Small, medium; Lock Screen on iPhone | Free | Opens the camera in one tap |
| Memory Lane | Small, medium, large | Premium | One past save at a time, anniversaries first |
| Craving Shuffle | Small, medium | Premium | A dish to try when you can’t decide |
| Save Wall | Small, medium, large | Premium | An overlapping pile of your saves |
| Table Window | Small, medium, large | Premium | Your latest moments or a collection |
Memory Lane
A past meal, brought back.
Memory Lane shows one save from your history — anniversaries first, so “1 year ago today” wins when there is one. It turns over every four hours on its own, and an Another button flips to a different memory right on the widget.
Shuffle and Wall
Craving Shuffle, Save Wall and Table Window.
- Craving Shuffle deals a dish from your own saves when you don’t know what you want — shuffle until one sounds right.
- Save Wall piles your saves edge to edge like a corkboard. It changes through the day.
- Table Window shows your latest moments, or one collection, as Scatter, Postcard or Menu.
Free
Quick Snap: the camera, one tap away.
Quick Snap opens PlateDiary straight to the camera, so the three-second photo really is three seconds. On iPhone it also fits the Lock Screen. It’s free, because capture is never behind Premium.
Why bother
Why a food widget beats another photo widget.
General photo widgets shuffle your whole camera roll, so you get receipts, screenshots and blurry pockets between the good stuff. A food memory widget only knows meals: every tile is a dish someone cut out, named and filed, so a glance at your phone brings back a night instead of a parking spot.
Memory Lane and Save Wall plan a few days of changes at once, so they keep turning over through the day without the app being open.
Set up
How to add a food widget.
- Preview it in the appThe Widgets page in PlateDiary previews every widget with your own saves, in every size — even before you have Premium.
- On iPhoneTouch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search for PlateDiary.
- On AndroidTouch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen, tap Widgets, find PlateDiary and drag one into place.
- Pick a sizeSmall for a single memory, large for a wall of saves.
Android
All five on Android, too.
Every widget works on Android, on the Home Screen. Android phones don’t have Lock Screen widgets, so there Quick Snap lives on the Home Screen with the others.
Privacy
What a locked phone shows.
Quick Snap carries no food photos, and on the Lock Screen the last place it shows is hidden while your phone is locked. If Premium isn’t active, the other widgets show a short note about Premium with no pictures of your meals.
Ideas
Home Screen ideas for food people.
- Stack Memory Lane on top of the weather — a past dinner is a nicer morning surprise.
- Put Quick Snap in your dock row, where your thumb already rests.
- Give a whole Home Screen page to a large Save Wall that matches your wallpaper.
- Point Table Window at a “Date nights” collection for a shared phone at home.
- Keep Craving Shuffle next to your maps app for the 6 p.m. “where should we go?”
