The tuna, probably. Four of your six visits ended with it, and last time Ana stole half.
In short
Places in PlateDiary is a free list of every restaurant you’ve eaten at, filled in from your photos of the table. Each place page shows your usual, every dish you’ve had there with a count, every visit, who you usually go with, and how to get back.

The list
Most visited, latest, nearby.
Places sits on the board beside your moments. Sort it by Most visited, Latest, or Nearby when your phone already knows where you are. It’s built for big diaries: a thousand places scroll as smoothly as ten.
Search it by name, or by a dish. Type “tuna” and you get every place that served you tuna, with a line like Seared tuna · eaten 4× here.
A place page
A place page reads like your own menu.
Members of PlateDiary AI, or anyone using a free try, can also tap Here again for one line written from your own notes about that place — handy at the door.
- Visits and since — “4 visits · since Mar 2025”.
- Your usual — the dish you’ve saved there most. If there isn’t one yet, the page says why it picked what it shows: “Loved here” for your best-rated dish, or “Last time” for the newest.
- Your menu here — every dish you’ve had there, with how many times, set out with dotted leaders like a real menu.
- Visits — every night you ate there, with that night’s saves.
- Usually with — the companions who keep coming with you.
- Getting there — the address and Open in Maps.
A checklist
What to remember about a restaurant.
With or without an app, these are the notes that make a second visit better than the first:
- The dish to order again, by its menu name.
- The dish to skip, even if it’s the famous one.
- Who it’s good for — a date, your parents, a big group, a solo lunch.
- Timing: the queue at 7 p.m., the quiet table at 2.
- House quirks: cash only, order at the counter, ask for the off-menu chilli oil.
- Your seat, if it was a good one.
Being a regular
How to become a regular somewhere.
A place page is really a record of a relationship, and the best ones are with places you return to. Becoming a regular is simpler than it sounds:
- Go at the same time. Tuesday lunch is easier to be remembered at than Saturday night.
- Sit at the counter or the bar when there is one. That’s where names get learned.
- Order your usual, plus one new thing. You keep the comfort and slowly learn the whole menu.
- Ask what they eat. Staff meals are often the best thing in the building.
- Bring people. A regular who brings friends is a regular for life.
Fixing it
A missing or wrong place, fixed in a tap.
Most moments know their place from the photo. When one doesn’t — an imported screenshot, or a photo taken with location off — open the moment and choose Add a place: pick it on the map, tap “I’m here now”, choose one of your nearby moments, or search. Picked the wrong café? Change it the same way.

Questions
Questions people ask.
Can I find a restaurant by a dish I remember?
Yes. Search Places for the dish and you see every place you’ve had it, with how many times.
How does PlateDiary know my usual?
It’s the dish you’ve saved most at that place. Until one repeats, it shows your best-rated dish there, or the newest, and says which.
Is Places free?
Yes. Places, every place page, and the map are free for everyone.
What counts as a visit?
A visit is a moment at that place. Two sittings hours apart on the same day are two moments, so they count as two visits.
Does Places work offline?
Yes. Places and every place page are on your phone, so they open with no signal.
