Guide · Your year in food

Is there a Spotify Wrapped for food? Here’s how to get one.

Every December your music app tells you your top song and your friends post theirs. Then someone asks the obvious question: why can’t I get that for food? You can — it just needs something to see your meals first. Here is why it’s harder, where your food year is already hiding, and how to have one ready when Wrapped season starts.

Free on iPhone and Android. No account, and it works with no signal.

In short

There is no official Spotify Wrapped for food, because no single app sees every meal you eat. The closest thing is a food diary that turns your meals into a year-end story — PlateDiary’s is called Served, a month and year story made on your phone from your saves — or a do-it-yourself recap built from your camera roll.

Checked

The catch

Why Wrapped works for music and not for food.

Spotify Wrapped works because Spotify sees every song you play. It doesn’t have to ask you anything; it counts. Spotify’s 2025 Wrapped landed on 3 December, and every year it turns twelve months of quiet counting into a few loud pages.

Your meals have no single app watching. Breakfast is at home, lunch is a card tap, Friday dinner is a photo in a camera roll of 14,000 photos, and the birthday omakase is in someone else’s phone. A delivery app only knows what was delivered. So a food year in review needs one thing Spotify gets for free: a place where the meals were kept as they happened.

A treasure hunt

Where your food year is hiding right now.

Gather those and you can build a recap by hand — our year-in-food recap guide has twelve awards to hand out and three ways to share them. Or let an app do the counting.

  • Your camera roll. Search it for “food” — most phones can — and you’ll find more meals than you remember.
  • Your maps timeline. Places visited, if you turned it on.
  • Delivery and booking apps. Order and reservation history, with dates.
  • Group chats. “Where was that dumpling place?” threads are a year in food in disguise.
  • Receipts in your wallet. The tasting menu you saved the receipt from on purpose.

PlateDiary’s version

Served: your year at the table, told in pages.

In PlateDiary, one photo of the table becomes a save for every dish and drink, filed by place, night and who was there. At the end of each month and each year, those saves become Served — “Your 2026, served.” — a full-screen story you tap through. The pages are made on your phone:

  • The count — how many saves, tables, places and days.
  • Dish of the year — the one you kept ordering, with how many times, and the runners-up.
  • Places — your regular, and the places that were new to you.
  • Company — who you shared the most tables with.
  • Rhythm — your busiest month and time of day.
  • Cuisine, your favorite save and a table personality.
  • A letter from the year — written by PlateDiary AI, the one page that needs it.
  • A share poster sized for a story, for when your friends post their Wrapped.

Get it by December

How to have one ready when Wrapped season starts.

  1. Start nowSnap the table at your next meal out. It takes about three seconds, and every field after the photo is optional.
  2. Bring back the year so farImport food photos from earlier in the year, up to 10 at a time. They keep the date they were taken, so they count toward the right month.
  3. Name a few dishesDish of the year needs names. Your past names come back as one-tap chips, and a PlateDiary AI read can name a whole table.
  4. Add who was thereCompanions are what make the Company page. They’re names on the night; nothing is sent to them.
  5. Open it on 1 December“Your year so far” opens on 1 December, once the year has at least 5 saves. The finished year follows in January, and every finished month with 3 or more saves gets its own story on the 1st.

Questions

Questions people ask.

Is there a Spotify Wrapped for food?

Not from Spotify. To get one, an app has to see your meals as they happen. PlateDiary’s Served turns the meals you snap into month and year stories, and you can also build a recap by hand from your camera roll.

When does Spotify Wrapped come out?

Early December. Spotify’s 2025 Wrapped launched on 3 December. PlateDiary’s “Your year so far” opens on 1 December.

Can I get a food year in review if I start late?

Yes. Import food photos you already took — they keep the date they were taken — and start snapping now. A year story needs at least 5 saves.

Is Served free?

Tapping through Served is free and every page is made on your phone. The letter, and the AI-written title and personality, use a free AI try or the PlateDiary AI membership.

Can I share it like Wrapped?

Yes. Each story ends with a 9:16 share poster you can post to a story or send to the people who were at the table.
