Looking for a Corner alternative? Saved isn’t the same as eaten.
Corner turns the places you scroll past — a birria truck on TikTok, a wine bar a friend posted — into pins on a map that learns your taste. It’s great at the “before”. People look for something else when they want the map to stay private, when their friends aren’t on it, or when they want to remember the meals that actually happened.
Free on iPhone and Android. No account, and it works with no signal.

Here again
The tuna, probably. Four of your six visits ended with it, and last time Ana stole half.
In short
Corner is a social map: pin places, share TikTok or Instagram links in as pins, follow friends and get recommendations. Alternatives for saving places are Mapstr, Google Maps lists and Beli. For remembering places you’ve already eaten at, a food diary like PlateDiary fills the map in from one photo of the table, privately and with no account.

Credit first
What Corner does, in its own words.
On the App Store, Corner — listed as “corner: curate & share places” — has the subtitle “personalized map with friends.” Its listing says its algorithm tailors your map to your interests and taste. You pin places you stumble across and don’t want to forget, build lists, and share links from TikTok or Instagram straight into Corner, where they become pins. You follow friends and like-minded explorers to see their go-to spots, and every review and save refines your recommendations.
It closes with “No bots, no ads, just vibes.” Corner is on iPhone and Google Play.
Why people look
Why you might want something else.
- “My friends aren’t on it.” A social map is only as good as the people on it.
- “I want it private.” Some lists aren’t for an algorithm or an audience — the anniversary spot, the place you go after a bad day.
- “I want the map I already have.” If your saves live in Google Maps, a second map is one more place to check.
- “I want to remember, not plan.” A pin says you meant to go. It doesn’t say you had the al pastor, that Dev ordered two more, or that it rained.
The alternatives
Four apps that do part of Corner’s job.
- Mapstr — “build the map of your own world.” Save places by name, by pointing on the map or “around me”, sort them with tags, mark them “To try” or “Tried”, import Google Maps, CSV or KML lists, follow friends’ maps, choose public or private for each place, and open your map offline. iPhone and Android. Our full comparison: Mapstr alternative.
- Google Maps lists — already on your phone. Default lists include Favorites, Want to go, Starred places and Travel plans; your own lists are private or shared by a link others can view or edit, and you can export them with Google Takeout. See Google Maps lists vs a food diary.
- Beli — the most social of the lot: ranked lists and maps of everywhere you’ve been and want to try, a feed of where friends eat, and personalized recommendations. iPhone and Android.
- PlateDiary (ours) — not a saving app at all. It builds a map from meals you’ve had, one photo at a time. More below.

A tiny workflow
From saved to eaten, in four moves.
- Save the rumorA TikTok of a birria taco truck off South Congress in Austin. Send it to Corner, or drop it in a Google Maps “Want to go” list.
- GoThursday, with Dev and Lauren. Order the quesabirria and the consomé.
- Snap the tableOne photo in PlateDiary when the paper boats land. Each taco and the cup of consomé become their own saves, filed under the truck and the night.
- Close the loopMark it Tried, or delete the pin. Next time someone asks “where was that truck?”, the answer is in your diary, with what you ordered.
Where we fit
A map that only has places you’ve eaten.
PlateDiary’s map fills itself in. The place comes from where your photo was taken, so there’s nothing to pin; each place gets one pin with a badge for how many times you’ve been. Tap it and you see every visit, your usual and who you usually go with. Old food photos can be imported, up to 10 at a time, and keep their place.
Stamps is PlateDiary’s stamp book of the restaurants you’ve been to, and each one gets its own page: your visits, your usual, the dishes you’ve had there and who came with you. A café, bakery, bar, stall or shop counts too. You add the stamp after the meal, never at the table. It’s the been-there list a saving app never quite becomes. Nothing is shared with the people you add, there’s no feed, and capture and browsing work offline.

Stay with Corner if… try something else if…
We make PlateDiary, so weigh that in. Facts about Corner, Mapstr, Google Maps and Beli come from their own store listings and help pages as they read on 31 October 2026. No prices or ratings; their pages win if anything has changed.
- Stay with Corner if… your friends use it, you find places on TikTok and Instagram, and you like a map that suggests the next spot.
- Try Mapstr or Google Maps if… you want a quieter saving map, imports and exports, or per-place privacy.
- Try Beli if… ranking places with friends is the fun part.
- Add PlateDiary if… you want to remember what you ate, where and with whom — on your phone, with no account.
Questions
Questions people ask.
What is the Corner app?
Corner, listed as “corner: curate & share places”, is a personalized social map. You pin places, share TikTok or Instagram links in as pins, follow friends and get recommendations based on your saves and reviews.
Is Corner on Android?
Yes. Corner has a Google Play listing as well as its App Store listing.
What’s a private alternative to Corner?
Mapstr lets you choose private or public for each place, and Google Maps lists are private unless you share them. PlateDiary has no account or feed at all, but it holds meals you’ve had, not places to try.
Can PlateDiary save places from TikTok?
No. PlateDiary starts from your own photo of the meal. Keep places to try in Corner or a maps app, and use PlateDiary once you’ve eaten there.
