Date night scrapbook ideas, one page per date.

Most couple scrapbooks stall after the first few pages because there is too much to choose from. Make it about the meals instead — every date has a table, and every table leaves something behind.

Free on iPhone and Android. No account, and it works with no signal.

In short

A date night scrapbook gives each date its own page: what you both ordered, a scrap from the table like the receipt or the menu, where you were, and one line each about the night. Built around meals, it fills itself — one page per date, a spread for anniversaries, and a full album after a year.

Checked

Pocket this

What to keep from a date.

  • The receipt — fold it so the dishes show, not the total.
  • The menu, or a photo of it with both your orders circled in different colours.
  • A doodle from the paper tablecloth, if the place has one.
  • The cinema or concert ticket if dinner was the opening act.
  • The fortune, the cocktail pick, the tiny paper umbrella.
  • A line each, written on the walk home: the best bite, and the best thing the other person said.

Fifteen pages

Page ideas for a couple scrapbook.

  • The first date, reconstructed. What you both ordered, who paid, what you were nervous about.
  • Your order, my order. Two columns, one per person, the same every date.
  • Bite of the night. You each vote, and the page records the result (and the arguments).
  • The shared dessert. Who got the last spoonful, written in very small letters.
  • The rain date. The plan fell through and the backup turned out better.
  • Our usual. The place you always end up and what you always order there.
  • Firsts. First sushi together, first time you cooked for each other, first fight over the bill.
  • Map of us. Every restaurant you have been to together, drawn on one map.
  • Top five together. A ranking you will both pretend not to care about.
  • Inside jokes. The waiter who called you both “boss”, the soup that was mostly ice.
  • Swap pages. Each of you makes one page about the other’s favourite place.
  • Monthsary dishes. One new dish for every monthly anniversary, a row of twelve.
  • The trip dinner. The best meal from your first trip together.
  • Next time we order. A running list of dishes for your next visit.
  • Just the two of us, plus everyone. Dinners with friends, labelled with who else came.

The big one

An anniversary spread.

Use two facing pages. On the left, the first date: the place, the dishes, the line you each wrote. On the right, the anniversary dinner, laid out exactly the same way. The symmetry does the emotional work — you do not need a single craft-shop embellishment.

On your phone

Digital pages from your dinners.

If you snap your dates in PlateDiary, the scrapbook is half made. Each dinner becomes a moment with every dish cut out, and your partner’s companion page keeps where it started, your usual together, your spots and “a year ago today”.

For a page to send or print, Premium’s Share Studio has a Date night template and keepsake cards made from the night — the receipt, a ticket stub, a postmark, a “4th time” rosette. Each phone keeps its own diary; there is no shared account, so you each keep yours, or one of you makes the pages for both.

Gift it

Turn it into a gift.

  • Print the twelve monthly pages as a small photo book.
  • Twelve envelopes, one per month, each with that month’s page and receipt inside.
  • A framed anniversary spread: first date on the left, today on the right.
  • A one-minute video of every dinner of the year, in order, ending at the table you are sitting at.

Questions

Questions people ask.

What do you put in a couple scrapbook?

Dates, mostly: what you ate, a scrap from each night like the receipt or the menu, photos, and a line each. Add firsts, inside jokes, trips and a running list of places you want to try together.

How do you make a relationship scrapbook?

Give every date one page with the same layout, keep one scrap from each night, write a line each before you sleep, and do a two-page spread for each anniversary.

What is a good scrapbook gift for a boyfriend or girlfriend?

A first-year album of date nights: twelve pages, one per month, ending with the same order you had on your first date.

Can we both add to the same PlateDiary diary?

Not yet. PlateDiary has no account or sync, so each phone keeps its own diary. You can share any page as a picture.
